Following its acquisition by the TRON Foundation, BitTorrent announced that it will now accept TRON (TRX), Binance (BNB) and Bitcoin (BTC) cryptocurrencies as payment for services such as a Pro account and disabling advertising.
BitTorrent is the company that developed the leading p2p protocol, as well as products such as BitTorrent and µTorrent. Cryptocurrency payments are supported by CoinPayments.net.
Justin Sun, founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent, commented on this event:
BitTorrent joins the growing list of online companies whose products and services are available to users in exchange for the TRX cryptocurrency. BitTorrent already has over 100 million users, so this move will help promote the use of TRX across various online platforms, as well as help customers benefit more from the premium line of BitTorrent and µTorrent products.
Recall that the TRON Foundation was founded in 2017. The company's goal is to accelerate the decentralization of the Internet using blockchain technology and decentralized applications. The BitTorrent company was acquired by the fund in 2018.
