Blockchain and Stellar announced the largest Airdrop worth $125 million

Blockchain and the Stellar Development Foundation (stellar.org), announced the largest cryptocurrency giveaway worth $125 million of Stellar coins (XLM). The unprecedentedly generous airdrop adds full XLM support to Blockchain Wallet comes as part of the company's Blockchain Airdrops program, announced last month.

Peter Smith, CEO and co-founder of the popular cryptocurrency wallet provider, notes that this is a record in the history of cryptocurrency airdrops, surpassing Dfinity, which conducted the now second largest airdrop, distributing 35 million in June dollars.

The team believes that airdrops are a unique tool for “discovering” and testing new crypto-assets by users, distributing and stimulating the crypto industry in the community. Airdrops have recently become popular as an attractive alternative to the initial coin offering process for bringing a token to market.

Blockchain is starting its airdrop program with Stellar due to the scalability of the network, low-cost transactions worldwide and overall healthy an ecosystem that is actively growing and developing.

You will be able to receive your first coins this week. Those who submit applications on dedicated page and join the waiting list with Blockchain Wallet identification will receive $25 in XLM until the $125 million limit is reached.

Stellar hopes that 30 million Blockchain wallets will help with the promotion of the coin to seriously compete with popular crypto assets Ripple (XRP) and Ethereum (ETH). According to the company, $125 million is not a lot of money to attract new audiences in terms of Stellar's long-term business goals.
