Telegram recently launched native advertising. One of the first advertisers was Toncoin - formerly Gram. The project purchased advertising not only directly from Telegram, but also from many cryptocurrency channels. Today Durov himself wrote about it on his channel, saying that “Toncoin developers are creating something epic.”
Co-founder and CEO of Telegram Pavel Durov expressed support for the developers who continue to work on the Toncoin project. Let us recall that earlier the Durov brothers had to give up from the idea of launching their own cryptocurrency under pressure from regulators.
After this, several separate organizations took up the further development of the Durovs’ project. Gram has several successors - Ton Crystall, Toncoin, Everscale, etc. Why out of all these projects the creator of the messenger chose Toncoin is still unknown.
Durov wrote:
When Telegram said goodbye to TON last year, I expressed the hope that future generations of developers will continue our idea of a blockchain platform for the mass market. So I was happy to see the winners of last year's programming competition take on the TON project and rebrand it as Toncoin. I am proud that the technology we created is alive and continues to develop.
In addition:
TON is still several years ahead of other cryptocurrencies in terms of scalability and speed. Unlike the original TON, Toncoin does not depend on Telegram. However, I wish the development team the same success. They have everything they need to create something epic.
After publication, the Toncoin rate soared by 45% in a few hours, setting a local maximum of about $3.60.
