While skeptics argue that Bitcoin is only used for speculation and has no real-world applications, a New York junior high school has shown that Bitcoin can be a convenient and successful payment method.
In an interview with business insider, Marco Chiocca, chairman of Montessori schools in Wiltiron and Soho, explained that he had several parents who were interested in having a method of paying for tuition in Bitcoin. “We had a few parents say, 'Hey, do you accept Bitcoin? I have Bitcoin and I'd like to use it to pay for school.'" Since Marco had already been aware of the benefits of using Bitcoin for several years prior, including low fees and fast transactions, he and other members of the administration decided to add Bitcoin as a payment method.
Many companies have recently made announcements adding Bitcoin as a payment option, but they quickly discovered that very few consumers were willing to pay with the digital currency. In our case, there are several parents who paid for their education using bitcoins. Since some of the parents have careers related to blockchain technology, they quickly accepted the idea of this form of payment. From the school's point of view, they simply offered parents an additional and convenient payment method. Bitcoin is not the exclusive domain of futuristic establishments; even art and military schools can accept it.
