The Ukrainian Bitcoin whale was discovered by the media while studying documents from the divorce proceedings. Court documents from 2017 show 16,000 bitcoins that went to Odessa after a divorce and division of property with his wife.
The documents do not indicate the Bitcoin wallet storing the asset. There is no way to confirm or deny the presence of such an amount in a Ukrainian’s account.
During the period of these trials, the law “On Virtual Assets” had not yet come into force in Ukraine. The document adopted by the deputies at the beginning of September last year was returned by the president to the Verkhovna Rada.
However, in the declarations of 652 Ukrainian officials indicated 46351 bitcoins for 2020.
