More than half of Bitcoin investors have purchased BTC this year

According to the latest Grayscale survey, more than half of Bitcoin holders have added the cryptocurrency to their investment portfolio over the past 12 months.

1000 investors took part in the survey. 26% of investors own BTC, with 55% of them admitting to buying BTC for the first time this year.

Young, risk-tolerant men still make up the majority of Bitcoin investors. But demographics are changing: 53% of female respondents confirmed they are considering buying cryptocurrency, up from 47% in 2020.

The age of Bitcoin investors has also changed in 2021. About 46% of respondents in the 55-64 age group said they would "definitely" or "probably" consider investing in Bitcoin, up 16 percent from 2020.

Grayscale research found that investors are more likely to view Bitcoin as a store of value rather than a currency, with more than half of respondents indicating that they view BTC as a long-term opportunity to diversify their portfolio.
