CryptoGo conducted a study using Yelp and Coinmap to determine the number of businesses accepting Bitcoin, the number of ATMs accepting Bitcoin, and the number of Bitcoin-related events in cities around the world.
She tried to determine which cities are currently worth visiting for investors who want to spend their cryptocurrency. So, the ten friendliest cities in the world:
1. Los Angeles
2. Toronto
3. New York
4. Atlanta
5. Miami
6. London
7. Vancouver
8. Jersey City
9. San Francisco
10. Vienna
In Los Angeles, there are 878 companies that accept crypto payments and 145 ATMs that support crypto. It is followed by Toronto, which has fewer companies but still has 120 ATMs. London, which came in sixth, has 118 companies but only 74 ATMs.
CryptoGo notes that while Asian countries dominate bitcoin mining, their cities lack places to spend them.
Cities that are leading in cryptocurrency mining include Singapore, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing and Shanghai.
"The study did show that the bitcoin community is present and thriving in many countries. However, the adoption, growth of popularity and promotion of bitcoin in some cities is faster than in others," said David Merry, chief executive of CryptoGo.
