Kickstarter will move its crowdfunding platform to the blockchain

Kickstarter is creating a new company to develop a decentralized service.

Bloomberg reports that today the company will release an announcement of a new project that will develop a platform similar to Kickstarter on the blockchain. Once ready, Kickstarter will migrate its site to the new system and release a set of custom tools that allow for crowdfunding.

The new company does not yet have a name. Development is expected to begin next year, and the transition to the new protocol will take place by the end of 2022.

The open source Kickstarter protocol will be developed on the Celo blockchain platform.
