Low-cost airline AirAsia launches a Blockchain-based loyalty program

Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia could become the first major airline in Southeast Asia to enter the crypto market by launching an ICO and its own cryptocurrency, BigCoin.

The director and founder of the low-cost project, Tony Fernandez, made a statement at the March Money 20/20 Asia conference. The CEO of AirAsia Group has confirmed that it is building a payment system to join its BigPay loyalty program. The BigPay mobile wallet allows passengers to feel comfortable on board the aircraft. On-board Wi-Fi allows you to pay for drinks and groceries via your smartphone. Starting in April, the company's website will accept both fiat money and BigCoin. It is expected that the coin will be able to pay for a wide range of services in the near future.

Fernandez is convinced that there is no point in having currency and not paying with it.

One of the richest people in Malaysia believes that digital currencies are a financial tool that will help reduce the risks of currency fluctuations. He is confident that BigCoin will soon be liquid not only in AirAsia.

Everyone, Fernandez notes, will benefit from a blockchain-based network. AirAsia Group is creating an ecosystem that will allow the use of digital currency for lending, payment for services and money transfers.
