South Korea is testing an online voting system on the blockchain

If the test is successful, a cloud-based blockchain voting system will soon be launched in South Korea. According to The Korea Times, development of the system will be completed in December. South Korea's National Election Commission and the Ministry of Science and IT have jointly developed a system that will improve the security and reliability of online voting.

It is expected that, in addition to preventing vote fraud, the blockchain system will allow candidates and voters to access data. Based on the test results, the ministry and election body will then integrate it into South Korea's online voting system known as K-Voting. The system will be applied at all stages of voting.

Previously, South Korea already used a voting system on the blockchain. Last March, Gyeonggi Province used the system to decide which municipal projects to allocate budget money to. About 9,000 residents took part in the voting.

Even then, officials decided that this was a revolutionary technology that would soon be used all over the world.

Also, blockchain voting was held in April in the state of West Virginia, USA and concerned citizens abroad.

However, there are also critics of such a system, since in this case voters can be bribed. But with voting booths this is unlikely, since only the voter knows what choice he made.
