A fork of the Bitcoin.org information site has appeared

On Saturday, August 4, the resource btcinformation.org was launched, which is positioned as a “community-approved” fork of the famous Bitcoin.org website.

The fact is that recently some actions of the owners of Bitcoin.org did not meet the expectations of the crypto community and were carried out without its consent, which is why some developers left the project. Experts say that while Bitcoin.org is still an excellent resource, recent events are damaging its neutrality and there is a high risk that its owners and administrators may use the resource for other purposes.

In this regard, a neutral, more decentralized information resource was created. David Harding, one of the early bitcoin supporters who helped develop the new site, notes that btcinformation.org does not contain any advertisements or links to third parties.

Like Bitcoin.org. The new resource is completely open source, and those who want to read it or become a sponsor can do so on the project's GitHub page. Comments on Reddit state that the site is currently registered in the name of one of the bitcoin developers, Andy Chow. Andy Chou himself confirmed this information and stated that he plans to transfer the domain and repository on GitHub to group management in the future.

The new site btcinformation.org differs from Bitcoin.org in a changed design; there is also no “Events” page, which on Bitcoin.org is often filled with information not related to Bitcoin. There is no section dedicated to Bitcoin Core, as it is stated that it is a separate independent project. There are no translations into other languages yet, but this feature will be added soon.

Less JavaScript and cookies, and removed the Google Analytics tracking option. It is stated that this information itself is useful, but not for the site btcinformation.org, which does not plan to sell advertising. The "donations" section has been removed as an improved and distributed fundraising method is being developed.
