Wong Ching Kit, a 24-year-old Cretan millionaire known as Mr. Coin, made it rain dollars in one of the disadvantaged areas of Hong Kong. He managed to shower people with Hong Kong dollars from the roof of a high-rise building before the police arrived and he was detained for violating public order.
Throwing money around, Wong shouted incomprehensible slogans about the FCC and the start of a trade race.
It is still unclear what he called the FCC in his speech, but media reports that Wong considers himself the local Robin Hood, and that he "robs the rich to help the poor." Moreover, young Mr. Coin feels he has an obligation to tell the world about Bitcoin because he feels like a god.
Those watching noted that the rain of money was like millions falling from a rooftop, however, only about HK$5,000 was collected on site, or about $639 from the street, according to police reports. It is unknown where the rest of the money went and the police are not offering any versions.
The Bitcoin enthusiast seemed only too happy for the police to intervene and live-streamed his arrest on Facebook. He made a “report” from a police car, commenting on everything that was happening to him at that moment and ignoring the officers’ warnings to stop filming. Wong ended the live broadcast by stating that he was not injured and that he still had money in his bag.
Wong Ching Keat made his fortune, in the millions, in the crypto industry late last year. However, in Hong Kong, members of the local crypto community and businesses call him a scammer.
Many believe that he was throwing away money to attract attention to his FileCash Coin (FCC) project. Wong's Facebook group, dubbed Epoch Cryptocurrency, is busy promoting his dubious projects.
