Beware of wallets bought on Ebay

Beware of wallets bought on Ebay

In the world of cryptocurrencies, people tend not to take unnecessary risks.
Especially when it comes to receiving and storing crypto, there is no reason to take shortcuts or save a few dollars.
One Reddit user didn't notice. He bought the ill-fated electronic wallet on eBay, and it quickly depleted his crypto balance.

In this way, approximately $30,000 worth of funds were stolen and the chances of their recovery are slim.

There is a very good reason why you should not buy anything related to cryptocurrency on auction platforms like eBay. Lots of people buy and sell cryptocurrencies on eBay, although the company does not offer any protection or refunds in case of fraudulent activity.

One Reddit user fell for a scam. He thought he was buying a Ledger cryptocurrency wallet on eBay, but in reality it turned out differently. It turned out that the seller could still gain access to this wallet, and he withdrew “his” funds a few days after the sale. This is quite a serious problem, since the user has no way to recover his funds after they have already been transferred.

Ledger support quickly responded to this question on Reddit. They helped the victim file a formal criminal complaint against the seller. Some eBay sellers operate under fictitious names and are incredibly difficult to apprehend. Such incidents are happening more and more often and people should be more aware of the terms of the transaction before purchasing such items from auction sites.

Whether there have been other similar incidents in the world of cryptocurrencies is currently unknown to us. Rely only on official manufacturer listings for such items, even if you experience delivery delays.
