EOSBet was hacked and lost $200,000

EOSBet was hacked and lost $200,000

A large decentralized gambling platform on the EOS platform lost 40,000 EOS ($200,000) as a result of a hacker attack. This comes just days after the creators of EOSBet claimed that their app is the most reliable of its kind.

“A few hours ago our platform was attacked and 40,000 EOS were stolen,” said an EOSBet spokesperson. “This happened as a result of a bug, we are still conducting an examination and collecting information.”

Until the developers find out the cause of the incident, the application will not be available to users. A company representative admitted that the hack was successful only because of an error in the code.

“The EOSBet application will be available relatively soon. We discovered a bug in the code and quickly need to fix everything. After talking with developers from other companies, we found out that their platforms were also attacked using this bug.”

The scammer's wallet is known - aabbccddeefg. Using an account name very similar to the official EOSBet account, someone sent messages to the attacker's wallet address. Please note - the real EOSBet account on the eos blockchain is: eosbetdice11.

“Reminder: Please refund the illegally obtained EOS, otherwise we will hire a team of lawyers in China to file a criminal case against you. The official EOSBet eos address is: eosbetdicell.”

The owner of this account then offered refunds to users, who left comments under the kidnapper's account. The scammer made them believe that EOSBet was returning lost funds in this way. The messages read:

“Reminder: Dear players, in order to compensate for the loss of EOS in the hacking incident, the platform has launched a platform for sending BET. 1EOS=1BET. The official address of EOSBet in eos: eosbetdicell, the transaction is carried out automatically."

It remains unknown whether today's theft is somehow connected with other strange events that have been happening on EOSBet for the last couple days.

At the beginning of the week, some lucky player won over $60,0000 on EOSBet, doubling his deposit several times in 36 hours. The EOSBet representative is absolutely confident that the platform was not hacked, and all bets were legal, including that very $60,0000.
