This night the decentralized exchange Etherdelta was attacked by hackers
After the DNS servers have been hacked, the client, when going to the EtherDelta.com domain, will be redirected to a duplicate page of the exchange created by the attackers. When a client uses the Metamask browser to perform any actions on the EtherDelta exchange, the hacker gains access to the client’s wallet passwords.
You are not in danger if:
- You have not logged into the EtherDelta exchange for the last 15 hours,
- You logged in and completed a successful transaction, there is a high probability that your account has not been hacked, but you still should not forget about precautions.
- You entered the exchange, but did not use a password and did not sign transactions.
When logging into EtherDelta with Metamask activated, the client will receive a message about hacking. The developers proposed an alternative option for withdrawing funds using MyEtherWallet, bypassing the interface for interacting with the main smart contract, which was not affected by the attack.
The scale and consequences of what happened are not yet completely clear; it seems reasonable to wait for statements from the exchange administrators and refrain from making transactions.
