Payment security: how to prevent malware from entering

It is possible to cure the virus and expel the Trojan from the system, but it is much easier to prevent infection. As many doctors say: “Prevention is the best medicine”

Most often, Microsoft Windows and Android users are victims of virus attacks. In order to minimize the likelihood of infection, you must follow basic computer security rules.

The first line of defense is to use an antivirus. It is advisable to use comprehensive solutions, for example, Avira Internet Security Suite, McAfee Total Protection, Dr.Web Security Space or Kaspersky Internet/Total Security Security, etc. But just installing security software is not enough - it is extremely important to regularly update both the software itself and the virus signature database so that the antivirus can detect the latest malware.

Another important element of protection is timely updating of the operating system and installing the latest updates for the programs used (including browsers and wallets). This will ensure the most effective remediation of known vulnerabilities at the operating system level.

In most operating systems of the Microsoft Windows family, in the standard configuration, the user has administrator rights, which, if handled carelessly, allows the virus to gain the same rights. It is much safer to create accounts with limited user rights - this will make life much more difficult for the Trojan and will not allow it to deeply integrate into the system. Many users of Android systems, in pursuit of free pirated software, also “root” their devices (turn on superuser mode), which gives malware complete freedom of action and opens all the doors for infiltration into the system.

It is good practice to enable your firewall. In almost all modern operating systems, a firewall is a built-in feature; you just need to remember to activate it. In most cases, it will prevent information leakage from the user's device and block any suspicious traffic.

When installing any software, it is important to trust the source. It is better to download any software only from official sites. For MacOs users, a special security option is available: “Allow the use of programs downloaded from: AppStore and from installed developers.” For Windows 10 users, there is a similar feature "Allow apps from the Store only".. Enabling this option will not allow the user to install any unverified software. Trojans are often hidden in crackers used to install pirated software (some sources indicate that at least 90% of keygens and cracks contain malicious software), so it is better to use them only as a last resort, when it is not possible to buy software or use a free analogue from a trusted source.

You should definitely check the addresses to which transitions are made because... very often, attackers replace one letter in the site address with another (for example, a lowercase “l” with a capital “I”; there are many similar combinations) and the user no longer ends up on the site of a reputable company, but directly into the clutches of the attacker on a site that is only similar to the one he was looking for.

And we repeat once again that one of the main security measures is constant concern for the state of the operating system and a vigilant attitude towards visited resources, opened letters, downloaded files and clicks on links received in letters or messages in instant messengers.
