Poland's central bank secretly pays for defamatory videos about cryptocurrency

A well-known Polish YouTuber (about 1 million subscribers) recently received $30,000 from the Central Bank of Poland for a video in which he spoke negatively about cryptocurrency, but did not indicate that the video was sponsored

Marcin Dubiel, whose “I Lost All My Money” video has received more than half a million views, talks about his experience trading Bitcoin, which left him penniless. In the description of the video, the hashtag #uważajnakryptowaluty is attached - this is the address of a website developed by the Central Bank of Poland together with the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, where they are trying to convince visitors that cryptocurrency is not money, and that investing in this area is a huge risk.

The Central Bank of Poland acknowledged the fact that “it carried out a campaign on cryptocurrencies on social networks,” but no further comments were received on the issue.

Marcin Dubiel is not the only one who received money from the Central Bank. The Planeta Faktów channel with 1.5 million subscribers also released a similar paid video. The legality of the Central Bank's actions remains in question, since propaganda directed at its own citizens is prohibited within the framework of democracy. Given the fact that the Central Bank saw fit to take such action, one would think that Poland is one of the least technologically advanced countries in Western Europe (with negligible internet speeds) for good reason.
