South Korean official who regulated digital currencies found dead

On February 18, 52-year-old Chung Ki Joon, who developed a law to regulate cryptocurrencies, died at his home. The police are already working to determine the cause of the official's death. According to the preliminary version, the cause of Jung Ki-joon's death was a heart attack, Yonhap reports.

According to the official’s friends, after his new appointment the man was under severe stress and worked very hard.

Recall that in December the Minister of Justice of South Korea said that the country’s authorities would consider a complete ban on digital currencies in the country. As a result, residents of the country began to collect signatures for a petition, which called on the government not to introduce this ban. 

A total of 300,000 signatures were collected. In response, the South Korean authorities stated that they would not introduce a ban.
