The US Marshals Service announced that an auction for 3,800 bitcoin coins will be held on January 22. The total amount of funds received from the auction, according to the exchange rate at the time of publication, could be about $52 million
In this auction, bitcoins are planned to be sold in several auction blocks.
The agency clarifies this information as follows:
“The auction will be held for six hours on January 22 from 9:30 to 15:30 local time. Bids will only be accepted by email from pre-registered bidders. 3,813 BTC are being offered for sale in 11 blocks: five blocks of 500 Bitcoin, five blocks of 100 Bitcoin and one block of 813 Bitcoin.”
Those wishing to participate in the auction must register and submit bids to the Marshals Service by noon on January 19th. The security deposit of participants is $200,000
This contribution is refundable. Auction winners will be announced on the same day.
