$680 million was stolen from DeFi projects in 2021

Although much more money was stolen this year - $1.4 billion - hackers returned most of it back to the pools.

According to The Block Research, there have been about 70 major hacks this year. $1.4 billion was withdrawn from DeFi protocols. The hackers recovered about $760 million.

Most of the exploits occurred on the Ethereum (34) and Binance Smart Chain (25) blockchains. In addition, hackers hacked projects on Polygon three times and Avalanche twice. 


Last month, Cream Finance hacked for $130 million. In September, hackers stole $114 million from Compound, after which they returned half of the funds.
