DeFi protocol Badger DAO lost almost $100 million in various cryptocurrencies as a result of an exploit. Moreover, about half of the assets were stolen from one wallet.
Contracts have already been suspended and an internal investigation into the incident has been launched. The team suggests that the unauthorized withdrawal of funds from the BadgerDAO yield storage protocol went through the Badger.com interface, and not through a vulnerability in the main protocol contracts.
Users gave attackers access to their wallets on fake sites, and approved an additional address for withdrawing their funds. The scammers collected information for several days and launched an attack tonight.
The project team confirmed the exploit on Twitter:
PeckShield has published a list of assets stolen by a hacker. Almost 897 BTC ($51 million at current prices) were transferred from one of the wallets.
On amid the news, the BadgerDAO token (BADGER) fell by almost 20%.
