Ethereum developers have launched the first public testnet, Kintsugi, to prepare for the upgrade to Proof of Stake (PoS).
The Ethereum developer noted that client improvements will still continue, but users can already experiment with the new functionality of the network. Based on the test results, the last series of testnets will be launched, after which the main ETH network will switch to PoS.

Beacon Chain, which will ultimately connect the existing network with the new one, was launched in December as stage 0 of the modernization. And the new network has already attracted billions of dollars in ETH.
The developers built four short-term test networks to simulate how the network would perform after the transition in preparation for the merger.
