UN World Food Program prefers Ethereum over banking system

Robert Opp, head of the UN World Food Program (WFP), announced the start of the development of a financial infrastructure that will allow for more efficient use of blockchain. According to CCN, the organization has already been able to save millions of dollars in banking fees using Ethereum.

Opp especially highlighted the fact that UN representatives are seriously considering the prospect of replacing all banking services with distributed ledger technology. Blockchain provides the ability to process an impressive amount of information, and also allows you to establish partnerships.

However, WFP representatives did not specify how exactly the organization plans to use Ethereum in the future.

Governments of many countries are considering the possibility of further implementation of distributed ledger technology in government agencies, as well as the issue of regulating cryptocurrencies. Thus, Christine Lagarde, head of the IMF, noted that regulation of digital currencies is inevitable.
