According to the Bangkok Post, the Central Bank of Thailand (ED regulator) has banned financial institutions in the kingdom from any transactions that relate to digital currencies
“Since last Monday, banks have been prohibited from changing, selling, creating trading platforms, as well as making cryptocurrency investments,” said the head of the Central Bank, Wirathai Santiprabob.
Moreover, banking institutions in Thailand are prohibited from recommending their clients to invest in digital currency.
Bank representatives commented on the introduction of the ban by saying that digital currencies can be used to finance terrorism or money laundering.
