American fast food chain Church's Chicken has begun accepting Dash payments in Venezuela, the company said in an official announcement on Facebook. Cryptocurrency is accepted at all 10 Church's Chicken restaurants. Dash has already made its first transaction with Church's Chicken and uploaded a video about it on its official YouTube channel. The restaurant claims to be the first global fast food chain to embrace digital.
Church's Chicken confirmed the news of accepting cryptocurrency payments, in contrast to the confusion with similar news regarding KFC. The fact is that on December 7, DashNews Director of Public Relations Mark Mason posted a tweet saying that KFC Venezuela will begin accepting Dash payments. KFC Venezuela denied this news, saying that the acceptance of such payments is still being discussed and it is too early to make such statements, especially without the knowledge of the company.
In January 2018, KFC Canada presented a PR stunt in which it offered a bucket of fried chicken that could only be purchased with bitcoins.
KFC posted a tweet at the time that read:
Of course, we don't know exactly what Bitcoin is or how it works, but that shouldn't stand between you and the chicken.
As Cointelegraph reported in August, Dash Core Group CEO Ryan Taylor stated that Venezuela has become the second largest market for Dash, with almost a hundred merchants accepting the cryptocurrency every week.
