In the village of Elizavetovka, Dnepropetrovsk region, deputies of the local village council legalized cryptocurrencies and bought each village resident a “coin”. Now there are more than 2,000 potential millionaires in the village, the head of the village council, Maxim Golosnoy, is sure of this. Channel 34 reports about this.
The initial investment was $534 in the Cardano (ADA) cryptocurrency. According to Golosny, one crypto unit was purchased for each member of the Elizabethan territorial community. The cryptocurrency was purchased at 14 cents, today Cardano is trading at 31 cents, that is, the direct economic benefit is obvious, Golosnoy notes.
It’s true that local residents have not even heard about cryptocurrency and their “investment portfolios,” journalists say. Only the institutional investor represented by the head of the village council has complete financial information.
He himself admits that people simply haven’t had time to inform them yet. And he notes that in neighboring villages deputies also decided to legalize cryptocurrency.
Deputies of the local village council plan to increase investments in the crypto market to UAH 200,000. using budget funds.
For this purpose, a detailed step-by-step plan has been developed.
The first step will be to amend the charter of the territorial community and include this crypto-asset in the property of the territorial community. The second stage should begin after receiving responses from the SBU, NABU, the National Bank, and the Verkhovna Rada regarding the ban or restrictions on the use of budget funds from the “overfulfillment” segment for the purchase of cryptocurrency, says Golosny.
Experts note that the use of budget funds for investment in cryptocurrency is unlikely. Digital money in Ukraine currently does not have an official status. Just like there is no definition of cryptocurrency in the legislation. Therefore, lawyers note, the attempt of the territorial community to take advantage of the law on decentralization and hold crypto-assets as the property or property of the community does not yet have legal grounds.
