An annual review of data on the investment patterns of the planet's richest people and the size of their wealth has shown global attention and record levels of investment in cryptocurrency.
At the beginning of this year, Forbes for the first time published a list of cryptocurrency billionaires, surprising not only with their number, but also with the amount of capital in digital assets. And although most of them stood at the origins of the crypto industry and made their billions from their first crypto investments, the interest in cryptocurrencies among the richest people in the world not only does not wane, but also breaks all records. New data from the largest consulting company Capgemini on the wealth of the world's richest people and their investments confirms the trend of increasing capital flows into cryptocurrencies.
Among dollar millionaires, almost 30% are already owners of cryptocurrency and slightly less, 27% are still considering this investment option. Confirming global age statistics, 71% of young rich people are interested in cryptocurrency and only 13% among the conservative contingent over 60 years of age. Moreover, among the younger generation of millionaires there is a growing demand for information about cryptocurrencies from primary capital management companies, which they cannot yet satisfy. Analysts suggest that this will lead to an analysis of the prospects for the crypto market by money managers in the near future.
In general, investment in cryptocurrency has reached record levels, and the total market capitalization peaked in January 2018. The total growth of assets of the world's richest people was 10.6% compared to 2017 and reached a stratospheric $70.2 trillion. If the trend in capital gains continues, then by 2025 this amount will already be $100 trillion, according to Capgemini forecasts.
Interestingly, at the end of the past year, several thousand Yahoo Finance readers participated in a survey about the impact of cryptocurrency on their lives. Every fourth crypto enthusiast noted that digital currency changed their life.
