The criminal took hostages in the Apple Store of Amsterdam and demanded 2 million euros in BTC

Last night, a criminal took hostages at an Apple store and demanded a ransom of 2 million euros in bitcoins for them.

The Dutch police arrived at the center following a call from a criminal from a store. An armed man held at least one person hostage for several hours.

A previously convicted Amsterdam resident called the police himself and demanded 200 million euros ($226 million) in cryptocurrency for a person’s life. Law enforcement officers took his threats seriously and prepared to storm the building. However, the hostage helped resolve the situation quickly and successfully. He was able to break free and escape while the police robot was delivering water to the store.

The criminal rushed after the fleeing man and was hit by a police car. The detainee is injured, but can testify.

The police chief noted:

The hostage forced our breakthrough and played a heroic role. Otherwise, it could have been a long night.

Police are not yet sharing details about the identity or motive of the perpetrator, but a suspected photo of him has already appeared online.

Apple this morning thanking the Dutch police for their “exceptional work”:

We are incredibly grateful and relieved that our employees and customers in Amsterdam are safe after this horrific experience.
