Salon will use the processors of users' computers "for calculations", the program will run "securely" and without requiring the installation of any additional software. The mining process will be handled by Coinhive, which has developed a program that runs in users' web browsers, allowing companies to mine monero coins worth $232.33. While scammers use these programs to attack various websites through which they mine coins on unsuspecting users' computers, Salon gives users the opportunity to volunteer their computers for mining if they want to go to the company's site without seeing ads.
