Yesterday, Razer announced the launch of a new application for computers called Razer SoftMiner. The application uses the power of idle GPUs on gamers' powerful computers to mine cryptocurrency. People who use this app will be rewarded with virtual Razer Silver credits based on how long they use it.

Gamma has developed a blockchain application that takes advantage of computers' idle time gamers for cryptocurrency mining. Thus, Gamma technology can be made available to more than 50 million players registered on Razer.

Gamers will not receive real digital currencies for using SoftMiner, but instead will receive tokens from a company called Razer Silver, which they can later exchange for unique in-game items and discounts in the Razer Store.
