Counterfeiters are not asleep. A fake “digital hryvnia” was “launched” in Ukraine

“Only me and the NBU are creating a national crypto in Ukraine,” said Mikhail Chobanyan, founder of KUNA Bitcoin Agency and co-founder of Bitcoin Foundation Ukraine. According to him, eUAH is a fake.

A fake “electronic hryvnia” was launched in Ukraine on behalf of the National Bank and the Ministry of Justice. Only government agencies are not aware of THEIR initiative.

Yesterday, a message about the release of the national Ukrainian cryptocurrency, called eUAH appeared on the profile resource USA.

The website indicates the initiators of the launch of the cryptohryvnia State Agency for e-government, the National Bank and the Ministry of Justice.

The project began in March of this year. The token is abbreviated as eUAH. The timeline published on the website states that the total supply of eUAH is 50 million. Until the 4th quarter of this year, only 10% of all tokens will be issued in free circulation, in order to first assess the interests of international investors and due to the fact that this is an experimental project.

Electronic hryvnia can be sold on several platforms: ForkDelta, EtherDelta and StockExchanges.

The initiators of the project even took care of the White paper style, close to the usual presentations of the National Bank. “The electronic hryvnia will operate to partially replace cash and non-cash national currency in Ukraine and create competition in the non-cash circulation of funds,” it states.

The new electronic hryvnia is planned to operate as early as next year.

The fake website very convincingly reports the details of the project.

Electronic hryvnia, the website notes, is a project of the National Bank of Ukraine in an attempt to transfer the national currency of Ukraine into the crypto space.

It was part of a cashless economy project, the goal of which was to explore the possibility of using blockchain technologies in the implementation of an innovative, efficient and flexible payment platform. The project also wanted to find out whether the platform could meet the needs of the country's payment market in solving problems arising in the field of non-cash circulation in Ukraine.

The new project turned out to be a complete surprise for the NBU. And the National Bank hastened to announce that it has nothing to do with eUAH.

The press service of the National Bank clarified that it is indeed working on the creation of a national cryptocurrency. A pilot project based on Blockchain technology exists, but is not advertised or discussed publicly. Work on the project is at an early stage and there are no plans to launch in the near future...

The NBU also noted that the Security Department has already received information about the fraudulent scheme.

The State Agency for e-government is also extremely surprised by this news. The creators of eUAH are considered scammers who created the project for the sole purpose of collecting funds under the guise of a state ICO.
