Despite Rumors, Chinese Officials Stopped Criticizing Cryptocurrency at Annual Consumer Protection Event
In early March, multiple sources told CoinDesk that Chinese officials would announce major policy changes regarding cryptocurrencies at an annual national televised event on March 15. The event is being hosted by China Central Television, the country's official state channel, as part of the celebration of World Consumer Rights Day. During this event, dubious organizations are subject to inspections, and facts of violations are made public for the sake of public safety.
Plus, this event is attended by representatives of major Chinese government agencies, in particular: the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and members of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate also take part in it.
According to rumors, ICOs, the pitiful remnants of which are still operating in China, but now illegally, were supposed to undergo an audit this year.

These rumors caused a huge stir in the Chinese community, with Chinese netizens sharing a photo with each other of a rehearsal sheet for the TV program list, which was posted by an anonymous user to convince others that cryptocurrencies were not on the agenda.
The absence of the slightest mention of cryptocurrencies at the event quickly stopped all talk about changes in the regulation of digital currencies by the Chinese government and allowed cryptocurrency holders to relax for a while.
