As it became known earlier this week, two databases of Nova Poshta clients were put up for sale on the darknet. The first database contained detailed information about half a million service clients, and the second, which was much more serious, about 18 million users.
According to experts, the information in the database was real, at the same time, the price for it was quite low (about 1,500 UAH).
Representatives of the service made a statement that the database was unreliable and there had been no hacks on the company’s network. Roughly speaking: this database is not ours, but another company. Since the screenshot “definitely does not show” that this is the logo of Novaya Poshta.
Nevertheless, the company’s director of information technology, Alexander Evstratov, announced that a decision had been made to strengthen the data protection of the service’s customer base. A new strategic cryptographic program based on blockchain will be introduced to protect information, as well as anonymize personal and analytical data of users. At this stage of development, the emphasis is on introducing the latest protective mechanisms, as well as on risk monitoring.
Regarding the appearance of the database on the network, Evstratov noted that it contains information that does not belong to the company.
