Google is developing its own processors to compete with the M1

The American technology giant is developing its own processors for Chromebooks and tablets based on Chrome OS, which are scheduled to launch in 2023.

Google's move to work on its own processors for computers is inspired by the successful launch of Apple's M1 chip last year.

Google is also ramping up efforts to create mobile processors for its Pixel smartphones. The upcoming Pixel 6 series will be the first time Google has used its own processor chips.

This year was the best year ever for Pixel sales, with 7 million units, up from 3.7 million last year. Google remains the only manufacturer of Android phones in the US.
