Alternative digital banking company Revolut, which offers trading and investment support and fast currency exchange services, has a surprise in store for its users. The company already has standard and premium cards that support five types of cryptocurrencies and a number of fiat currencies, and now the company is ready to introduce to the market a new metal card, Revolut Metal, for which users will receive cashback for every cryptocurrency payment.
The new metal card is completely contactless and designed with great attention to detail. It is three times lighter than a regular card, cut from a solid sheet of reinforced steel using a diamond drill and coated with black paint. A high-precision laser is used to engrave customer data on the card.
Standard Revolut debit cards are issued free of charge, but do not offer any special bonus features. Premium cards offer free currency exchange, free international money transfers and ATM withdrawals, and free travel insurance. There is a monthly fee of £6.99 ($8) for the Premium card. Revolut Metal card users will receive all the benefits of a premium card plus cashback and a special concierge service that makes it easier to buy travel packages and festival tickets. That is, users of metal cards will not have to book seats and tickets themselves; the service will do it for them. To use the Revolut Metal card, customers will pay either £120 ($140) per year or £12.99 ($15) per month.
If you use the new card exclusively for cryptocurrency payments, the cashback for purchases made outside of Europe will be one percent, and for purchases made in Europe one-tenth of a percent and can be paid in both fiat and cryptocurrency.
When asked how the company protects the cryptocurrency contained in customer accounts, representatives said that the funds are securely held in cold storage, and the company does not disclose such information for security purposes.
“We are absolutely confident that Revolut Metal will become the exclusive card of the future and a “must have” for travelers around the world,” company representatives say.
