A new wallet for Bitcoin Cash called Electron Cash has been released, which is available even on outdated phone models with a minimum set of functions.
Electron Cash published news about the introduction of the next version of the wallet called J2ME. J2ME stands for “Java MicroEdition”. Electron Cash is a wallet created specifically for BCH, it combines both cold and hot storage - it limits online access, so much of the process happens in a more secure offline mode.
“Now with Electron Cash, users who only have access to phones with a limited set of features like the Nokia 216 will be able to access all the benefits of the Bitcoin Cash SPV wallet,” said Electron Cash developer Yonald Fukbol.
Nokia 2016 phones launched just a couple of years ago (in 2016), they are equipped with a basic minimum set of functions and are designed to serve the needs of the lower echelon of the market. Fewkeball's decision to develop a wallet for such phones fits perfectly with the overall Bitcoin Cash ecosystem, which its creators say is partly made up of people who can't afford mobile phones but could greatly benefit from the ability to conduct cryptocurrency transactions.
“To create this wallet, the python source code was rewritten in Java almost from scratch. The code is currently publicly available on GitHub in the alpha release stage, and is constantly being rewritten and updated. being tested.”
Electron Cash is one of many projects creating neat updates to Bitcoin Cash. In mid-July, CashShuffle finished testing its new bot, which will help users “obfuscate” their transactions even without the participation of other participants. According to Fukeball, this plugin is fully compatible with the released wallet.
