President Bukele: More than half a million people use El Salvador's wallet

According to President Bukele, more than half a million citizens of El Salvador are already using the state-owned cryptocurrency wallet Chivo.

The government of El Salvador has launched Chivo wallet, which operates on the basis of the Mexican exchange Bitso. Using this wallet, residents of the country can spend and receive cryptocurrency.


On Monday, the president said that more than half a million people have already downloaded the wallet. The total population of El Salvador is 6.5 million people.


The launch of the wallet was accompanied by technical problems. According to the president, 95% of the errors have been corrected. The wallet will be fully functional in a few days.
