Poloniex will delist eight cryptocurrencies

Popular Bitcoin exchange Poloniex intends to abandon eight cryptocurrencies. Mass delisting is scheduled for September 25. The main reason for abandoning the selected crypto assets is their low liquidity and lack of demand in the market.

Seven out of eight coins are not even in the top 100 version of the CoinMarketCap rating. The following are subject to removal from the list: Bitmark (BTM), Einsteinium (EMC2), GridCoin (GRC), NeosCoin (NEOS), PotCoin (POT), VeriCoin (VRC), Bitcoin Plus (XBC).

BitcoinDark (BTCD), although it held 78th place in the ranking, the coin lost the support of the development team. At the beginning of the year, the creators of BitcoinDark concentrated all their efforts and resources on the implementation of the new Komodo (KMD) project, practically abandoning BitcoinDark. Positioning itself as an improved, anonymous alternative to the first cryptocurrency, the coin has recently been presented only on the Poloniex and Trade By Trade platforms. Moreover, more than 85% of transactions on the BTCD/BTC pair took place on the Poloniex exchange.

The exchange reminds of the offer to exchange BTCD asset owners for Komodo tokens until mid-January 2019, since not everyone carried out the exchange and about 1.2 million BTCD coins are circulating in circulation. Later, the offer will no longer be valid and the asset will be lost. Notably, in early September, BitcoinDark made an unexpected 470% jump amid a sharp increase in trading volume. In 12 hours, the price of BTCD soared from $22 to $103. The reason for this takeoff has never been clarified. As of today, the price has fallen to $30.70 and the asset has dropped to 115th place in the ranking according to CoinMarketCap.

The exchange asks traders to complete all transactions and close all orders for assets submitted for delisting before the appointed date. After being removed from the list, within 30 days, until October 25, users will be able to transfer all remaining assets to third-party addresses.

On the official page, Poloniex notes that all changes in the lists of crypto assets are carried out exclusively to improving the operation of the platform and service exchanges.
