Developers active in the cryptocurrency world always know what aspects of a particular coin need to be improved. Although Bitcoin Cash has come a long way in just six months, it can be improved even further. Thus, this year two interesting proposals were presented.
These two proposals aim to make Bitcoin Cash more reliable and secure. It appears that one of the two proposals has already been accepted, while the other is still awaiting feedback and approval.
The first proposal is proposal BUIP084. This plan was introduced a few weeks ago for discussion, but ultimately turned into a useful addition to the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem. Ever since this hard fork was created, users have been confused about how to “split” their coins into the previous version wallet. Since many holders have yet to claim their BCH balance information since the fork occurred, it's always worth taking a look at the security guidelines.
Even though many wallets now have built-in sharing, until now there has been no clear guidance for users who have used a different wallet solution. With BUIP084 these instructions will be entered in a convenient manner. They also cover the issues of separating BCH from Bitcoin balances without any impact on the BTC balance. It is also a valuable educational guide to hard forks and wallet management in general.
The second proposal is proposal BUIP085, which has yet to be properly tested. Double spending is a very real problem in the world of cryptocurrency, mainly because there is very little that can be done to prevent it. Thus, proposal BUIP085 focuses on dual traffic relay. This "warning system" would allow merchants to know when they are on the receiving end of double traffic. These transactions will not be detectable unless network nodes are actively relaying this information.
To make this proposal work, developers will need to create a dual-traffic relay system compatible with Bitcoin XT implementation. Additionally, all GUI wallets will require visualization or notification for this relayed information. This is one proposal that does not necessarily require network approval, although there is no reason why anyone would be against such an idea at all. One could even argue that a dual traffic relay system has long been necessary, but it seems that such a solution will only now be implemented..
Given the above, both of these proposals will make Bitcoin Cash more reliable than ever before. It is good to see cryptocurrency developments happening in this regard. Unlike traditional money, the technical aspects of cryptocurrency are constantly changing and need to be improved. Slowly but surely, coins are maturing and things will only get better.
The future certainly looks bright for Bitcoin Cash, assuming both of these proposals are turned into working code soon.
