Despite the fact that it was a difficult year for cryptocurrencies in terms of price fluctuations, the number of cryptocurrency ATMs in the world doubled during this period and now stands at more than four thousand. According to Data Light statistics, in 2018, an average of six were installed per day.
Interestingly, almost all of them offer Bitcoin, while Litecoin is available on 2,421, Ethereum is available on almost half, and Dash is available on 729 machines. Also, some ATMs offer Zcash (67), Dogecoin (79) and Monero (128), which confirms the wider acceptance of cryptocurrencies, and not only for the most popular ones.
If you look at the graph, the vast majority of equipment was installed in the first months of the year, when prices for digital currency were still relatively high.
On the website of the Coin ATM Radar company you can see a map with 4085 cryptocurrency ATMs in 76 countries, according to which in the USA there are 1258 crypto ATMs, and more than 1000 supporting Bitcoin Cash, in the United Kingdom there are more than 200 machines, in Central Europe - 750, in South America 65 machines and in Australia – 54.
The number of ATMs in existence only confirms the wider adoption and the fact that more and more people are starting to see cryptocurrency as a means of payment.
