Blockchain platform VeChain will help create a 5G network in Japan

VeChain today announced that it has been selected by NTT Docomo - Japan's largest telecommunications company - as a partner in the 5G Open Partner Program.

By 2020, NTT Docomo wants to create a 5G network for industrial use, so the company is organizing this partner program. Using the NTT Docomo 5G protocol, the VeChain blockchain platform will be able to provide completely new services.

“Our goal is to expand the current capabilities of our services, including traceability and supply chain management,” VeChain representatives said in a press release. “We are constantly trying to introduce more use cases for traceability in Japan, and the 5G program will help us do that.”

The partnership will give VeChain the opportunity to collaborate with several cross-industry businesses. Along with messages about this collaboration, VeChain representatives published information about other new partnerships and services that will be introduced into the VeChainThor blockchain.

The 5G Open Partner Program, which aims to create a network for industrial use of 5G, was launched in February 2018. Since then, NTT Docomo has chosen several partners - large and small firms from the fields of banking, automotive, media, pharmaceuticals, insurance, information technology and so on.

Their list includes:

MUFG Bank

The Asahi Shimbun

Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.

Astellas Pharma Inc.

Sony

Prefectural Government of Okinawa

Selected partners have the opportunity to create new services in a 5G network until 2020. This is a great opportunity for VeChain to introduce traceability applications in Japan using 5G.
