According to Western media reports, Samsung is developing a cryptocurrency service that will be launched along with the release of the Galaxy S10.
This service will initially consist of two parts - a cold wallet for storing cryptocurrencies, public and private keys, as well as a cryptocurrency wallet for making fund transfers, and viewing information and transaction history. The names of the wallets have not yet been announced.
Samsung's cold storage app will allow users to import their existing wallets from third-party services like Metamask or TrustWallet. Users will also be able to create a new wallet directly within the app. The cryptocurrencies that will initially be supported are Bitcoin, Ethereum, ERC20 tokens, and Bitcoin Cash.
Information about accounts created in the application is stored on the blockchain with complete anonymity. The only way to restore access to your account is using a secret phrase of 12-24 words. Users are responsible for storing this phrase securely, as without it, the cryptocurrency account cannot be restored.
The application will have multiple layers of security and will require authentication. There are still few options for verifying your identity - a fingerprint or a PIN code, and this is yet another confirmation that Samsung will not use a retinal scanner in its new Galaxy S10.
