As IT technologies develop, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine faces new challenges. Now she has to confront illegal actions related to the world of digital payment systems and cryptocurrencies.
Yesterday, the department's press service announced the launch of a pre-trial investigation against officials of the State Fiscal Service and a number of businessmen. The enterprising team, according to preliminary data, is involved in the creation of financial pyramids under the guise of innovative business projects that collected funds from gullible citizens. To legalize illegally obtained income, businessmen took them abroad through the payment systems Qiwi, WebMoney, Yandex.Money and cryptocurrency prohibited in Ukraine.
As part of criminal proceedings, a number of searches were carried out in Kyiv and the Vinnitsa region. The suspects are accused of organizing a criminal group with the aim of obtaining illegal income and laundering it on an especially large scale, using electronic payment systems and other financial mechanisms prohibited in Ukraine, as well as abuse of official position of officials of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine. In the interests of the investigation, the names of the suspects are not announced.
This is not the first time that such accusations have been brought against employees of the State Fiscal Service. Exactly a year ago, in November last year, department employees were accused of creating the Money Technology financial pyramid.
